Oxted School Local Governing Body: Register of Interests, Membership, Roles & Attendance

Michael Barratt – Elected Parent
I have been an Elected Parent Governor for 10 years and Deputy Chair of Governors for 8 years.  I have recently retired as an Officer in the London Fire Brigade and am now a contractor to Surrey Fire and Rescue for Technical Rescue. I have lived in Tandridge for 22 years and both my children were educated at Oxted School.   I am an active member of my local community.  I was Chairman and Founder of Tandridge Youth Group.  I have been Chairman of Tandridge Village Fete and Tandridge Hall Management Committee. I bring skills of discipline, fairness and Health and Safety.

Paul Belok – Elected Parent
I am a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and a consultant advising the trustees of company pension schemes ranging in size from a few million to several billion pounds.  I bring significant financial as well as general management experience to the Governing Body.  Elected as a Parent Governor in 2013, my eldest son left Oxted last year, and I have two daughters in Year 9 and Year 11, which gives me a broad view of the School across the year groups.  A resident of Oxted, I am also married to a teacher.

Janet Conneely – Elected Parent
Elected as a Parent Governor in May 2013, my four daughters have all been educated at Oxted over a 10 year period.  I am the Link Governor for the English Department and sit on the Curriculum and Standards Committee.  I am a passionate advocate of comprehensive education and contributing to the local community.  I have lived in the local area for 28 years – eight as an Oxted resident.  Previous roles include Secretary of Oxted PTA, PTA Chairman at St Ihn’s School, PTA Chairman St Peter’s School, Secretary of the Caterham and Oxted NCT branch and Secretary of Tandridge Village Fete.

Joanna Dennis – Elected Parent
A Fellow of the Chartered Association of Chartered Accountants, I have lived in Oxted since 1999. I was a Governor at Holland Junior School for 4 years (Vice Chair of Governors and Chair of Finance) before being elected as a Parent Governor at Oxted School in May 2013.  My eldest daughter has left Oxted School but my youngest daughter is in Year 11 and planning to stay on for Sixth Form. Awarded the national award of Finance Director of the Year, I specialise in protecting businesses experiencing rapid change, cash flow management and implementing systems and controls. I am currently a Senior Director and owner of two businesses and the Link Governor for Finance and Humanities.

Paul Humphrey – Locally Appointed
‘Born and bred’ in Oxted and a former student of Oxted School (1986-92), I have strong local ties and an affinity to Oxted School. Currently working as Strategy Director for a major pensions company, I initially trained as a Chemist and then in Finance.  Much of my early career was spent as a Management Consultant, helping major companies and government departments, including Education, to deliver effective change programmes.  I bring experience in finance, strategy and change management to the Governing Body.
