Golfing Achievements 2018

Charlie and Harry have had excellent seasons developing their golf and also themselves. Both of them played little golf earlier in the season due to their exam period in June, however, with exams over their seasons really began!

Charlie and Harry both qualified for the National Schools Championships at the South England Schools Championships and were part of the three man team that won the team event for Surrey schools.

At the National Schools Championships they had great success.

Eric Doherty, Surrey Schools Golf Team Organiser said:

“Charlie and his younger brother Harry, students at Oxted School, had a fantastic day at the tough, Seve Ballesteros designed, Shire London Golf Club, on Monday 25 June in the English Schools' National Golf Championships.

Charlie was the only boy to play to par, with two rounds of 72 and he won the Championship by one shot from Ben Schmidt of Penistone Grammar School, Yorkshire, with brother Harry, who is only 16 year old, a further shot behind finishing in 3rd place with rounds of 72 and 74.

Charlie had a stunning start to his morning round, achieving a hole-in-one with his very first shot of the day at the 175yds par 3 first hole.

Both boys have now qualified to represent English Schools in International matches against Scotland and Wales during August and September and is probably a 'first' to have two brothers playing in the same English Schools' Golf team.

An outstanding achievement for the boys and we wish them well”.
