Rotary Young Chef
This week Oxted hosted the local round of the Rotary Young Chef award with 7 students from Oxted School taking place. Year 9 - Fin and Christian, Year 10 - Alex, Jacob and Mabang, Year 11 - Harry and Charlie.
Students had to design, cost, prepare, cook and present a starter and a main meal and have worked extremely hard on the process. There were some pressured moments but they all showed great skill and professionalism. There were some excellent dishes on offer from Thai green curry, homemade pesto pasta and the winning dish being a stuffed pork with sautéed kale.
In first and second place and securing their place in the Regional round after Christmas are Alex (1st) and Jacob (2nd). A special mention to Mabang who received some very good compliments from the professional chef who came in and judged the final dishes.
