Senior Prize Giving 2019

On Tuesday 24 September Oxted School celebrated the achievements of its senior students and were delighted to welcome back former Oxted student, Chris Slegg, BBC London sports journalist, to present the prizes.

During his speech, he recounted his time at Oxted with fondness and affection emphasising what he had learnt at school and the life-long friends that he made. He encouraged every prize winner to work hard to be the best that they could be and to be kind to people. He said, “it was wonderful to see the place again, and a real honour and privilege to hand out the prizes to so many talented youngsters”.

During the evening prize winners and their families listened to music solos on harp by Joanna Readwin and piano by Louis Hobson. They also listened to the adventures of Emily Strange who attended this year’s World Scout jamboree in the US along with 50,000 other scouts from around the globe. There was a second reading by Maisie Hinds, Bea Maynard, Jasmine Mir and Jessica Slack who spoke about their experiences in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) and Mozambique with True Adventure.

The evening shone a bright light on the amazing things that a large number of students have achieved through hard work and a positive mental attitude to be the best that they can be. Congratulations to all our prize winners.
