Oxted School Remembers

Oxted School fell silent at 11.00am on Friday 9 November to remember those whose lives were taken during the war.

A service of remembrance was held at 10.45am on the Meridian decking. Following an introduction by Mrs Euridge, Head Boy Ben Gibbs read ‘Owen, Anthem for Doomed Youth’. Deputy Head Girl Charlotte Strange read out the names of the Oxted students who died in conflict.

Head Girl Emily Budgen read The Ode. The Last Post was played by Mrs Homewood, Head of Music, who after the two minutes’ silence played The Reveille. Deputy Head Boy Charlie Watkins read the poem ‘Duffy, Last Post’ and the service finished with a clarinet ensemble performing ‘Abide with Me’.

Staff and students attended the service and students looked on from classroom windows on what was a very moving service.
