Teachers' Industrial Action

As you will be aware from our communication last week, the National Education Union (NEU) are continuing with their industrial action on Tuesday 2 May 2023.

We are constantly reviewing our plans to maintain a safe working environment and to maximise the provision for students, the following will be in place on Tuesday 2 May 2023:

  • Year 10 should arrive at school for 09.55am where they will attend normal lessons from Period 2. Should their teacher not be in school, students will be required to complete independent study. They may wish to bring revision materials and reading books to support them with this. Students who use school transport and will therefore arrive at school at the usual time, should go to the canteen on arrival, where they will be supervised until Period 2.
  • Years 12 and 13 should attend lessons as normal and if their teacher is not present for whatever reason, they should continue with independent study in the Sixth Form area.
  • Year 11 should attend school for public examinations. For those not attending exams, work or online lessons will be provided on Teams. Where teachers are not available, students should use this time to complete revision for their summer exams. Students attending exams who need to be on site all day due to school transport, should report to the Year 11 office where they will be redirected to a supervised study area.
  • Years 7 to 9 are expected to attend remote lessons via Teams. These lessons will go ahead if their teacher is available. Attending these lessons will minimise the impact of the strike action on learning. Lessons will follow our well-established remote learning protocols and registers will be taken.

Free School Meal (FSM) vouchers will be delivered by email for any students who are eligible and who will not be attending school on Thursday.

We know this situation is potentially very disruptive for you and your family. However, we do feel it is important to give you the earliest information we can to enable you to make any necessary arrangements.
