Wellbeing Garden Update

The sun shone on a small group of volunteers who helped begin the next phase of the wellbeing garden. We were working to an ambitious plan to dig out an area next to the centre and create steps and path leading to a bed that will be developed into an area of shrubs and flowers. In addition, we want to plant a number of native trees that have been provided by the Woodland Trust.

We are delighted that the following was achieved:

  • Planted 62 native saplings - birch, rowan, hazel, etc (another 50 are being potted up and can go in next time). These were supplied free of charge by the Woodland Trust
  • 60% of the planned garden area is dug out and now just needs turning over and planting
  • Steps to the garden have foundations laid and nearly finished
  • Oak glade is planted
  • Christmas tree and mini pinetum has begun
  • Greenhouse no.1 has been cleared of brambles, as has the entry path to the garden area

We need more Volunteers!

Are you able to help us to complete this phase of the garden development on Saturday 26 March from 9am until 1pm?

If you are willing and able to come to the wellbeing garden (behind the science block) on Saturday, we would like to complete the following tasks:

  • Lay the rest of the path
  • Dig the beds and planting up
  • Planting the rest of the carbon-sucking saplings

We also need a few wheelbarrows!
