Business
Intent
The Business curriculum at Oxted School is a fluid curriculum that is reviewed and amended to encompass developments and changes in subject content and pedological research. The core of the curriculum is the factual content expressed through contextual lens (case studies, news reports, data analysis, modelling, source material) the next layer of the curriculum focuses on the development of vocabulary (concepts, terms, technical language) that enable the students to become comfortable with expressing their own knowledge. The curriculum then seeks to develop a curiosity within the student where the subject of Business in concerned. The curriculum is designed to raise an awareness about how knowledge is not static and there is constant renewal in the subject where experts in the field are continuously looking for a better understanding of the Business world its success, failures and impact on both individuals and societies within the changing dynamics of an increasing global world and its impact on their future and the environment surrounding them.
Our students will, by the end of their journey, be able to speak the business and economic language that should enable them to become socially mobile and fit well into the different facets of society. We have also developed a curriculum that equip students with the appropriate knowledge and skills needed to develop their employability and identify business problems and opportunities.
