Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition
On Tuesday 3 December, Oxted School hosted the Regional round of the Rotary Club's Youth Speaks Competition.
Oxted School entered two teams to the competition: Oxted A - Edward, Janni and Maddie debating the motion "Climate Change - an unstoppable force?" and Oxted B – Amelie, Freya and Anna who debated the motion "Should we use teachers first names in schools?"
Each team prepared a 15-minute debate, which was judged by a panel of six from the Rotary Club of Oxted and Limpsfield. Strong arguments were presented in each debate, and the panel of judges commented on the sophisticated rhetoric and analysis from the speakers.
Ultimately, the judges thought that Oxted B presented the better debate. They won book vouchers and the opportunity to compete in the next round of the competition.
Debating Club continues with Mr Noel every Friday lunchtime in H6
